School Day
The School Day is a day aims at developing school students technically and personally, which is in consequence, will play an important role in developing Community and the benefit of humanity
IEEE Cairo University Student Branch volunteers went to “El talaae” school to explain to school’s students basics of electronics.
Objectives of the day:
•Preparing a new generation of well-prepared engineering students in order to develop the community.
•Support the application aspect for school students by creating simple Projects.
•Develop the sense of Engineering for school students.
•Encouraging school students who are in a decision making phase (They are about to decide which field to enter
in El-Thanawya El-Aama) to enter the Engineering Field.
•Developing students’ skills such as “Team Work, Communication skills” by an Application.
•Expand IEEE CUSB Schools Network.
Open Source Week
Nowadays, the whole world is moving towards Open Source Software, as you can modify the source code of the application to satisfy your requirements.
Open Source became an essential need in engineering career and many applications now are based on open source solutions.
So, IEEE Cairo University Student Branch organized an Open Source Week at the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University.
The Schedule of the week was as follows:
•Day1: Linux (Ubuntu).
•Day2: Embedded System via Open Source coding.
•Day3: SUN Microsystems.
•Day4: “Codeplex” presented by Microsoft - Presentation by IBM Company on open source usages in industry.
•Day5: Fedora Linux.
Through a whole week, over 350 students from different universities all over Egypt attended these sessions and also they took free CDs from Sun Microsystems and Fedora Linux.
