Top Cores Workshop

IEEE Cairo University Student Branch held a computer architecture workshop titled "Top Cores"
Computer architecture is the practical art of selecting and interconnecting hardware components to create computers that meet functional, performance and cost goals and the formal modeling of those systems.
That’s why IEEE Cairo University Student Branch introduced a computer architecture workshop, which is 12-days long, and its contents were as follows:
•    How to use VHDL efficiently to synthesize and simulate digital circuits from RTL to logic (logic synthesis).
•    How to describe the circuit from different levels of abstraction (structural, RTL, Behavioral).
•    Writing synthesizable codes for different digital circuits types: combinational, sequential, FSM, and FSM with data path.
•    How to build a test bench and test the operation of the circuit especially for DSP blocks (FIR, FFT…etc.).
•    The basic arithmetic building blocks like: adders, multipliers, round & saturate blocks.
•    The basic concepts used to satisfy the requirements on power, speed and area including pipelining and resource sharing.
