The IEEE Cairo University Student Branch was the first IEEE student branch to be established in Egypt. It is located at the Faculty of Engineering and serves five departments within the faculty, Electronics and Communications, Electric Power, Computer Engineering, Aerospcae Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. The main goal of the student branch is to enhance and foster the engineering sense and capabilities of the faculty students through different activities. Activities include, but not limited to, workshops, competitions, conferences and fairs. Most of the work is done through student members and volunteers. Volunteers come from the five departments listed above as well as from other departments in the faculty like Civil, Mechanical, Architecture, Mining and Chemical Engineering.
IEEE Cairo University student branch is a member in the IEEE Egypt Section and in the IEEE Region 8 which includes student branches from Europe, Middle-East and Africa.
