IEEE (eye-triple-e), an acronym for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, is the world's leading profesional association for the advancment of technology. Through its more than 375,000 members in 160 countries, the organization, its members, its volunteers and its associates have made a difference in everyday life. IEEE is a leading authority on a wide variety of technical areas ranging from biomedical engineering, clocks, telecommunications, computing and robotics to power, software, consumer electronics and defense. For 125 years, IEEE has led technological advancements to help benefit the future. For this reason and more, 13 May 2009 has been designated Engineering the Future Day, and marks the culmination of IEEE’s 125 years of engineering the future. IEEE traces its roots to the founding of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers by early industry giants, including Thomas Alva Edison and Alexander Graham Bell. Today's global IEEE has become a trusted source for fostering technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity as well as the profession. The IEEE is commemorating its 125th Anniversary this year with a variety of activities surrounding the theme of "Celebrating 125 Years of Engineering the Future." Major anniversary events include the first IEEE Presidents' Change the World Competition for college and university students worldwide; a global media roundtable and Webcast addressing emerging world changing technologies; a series of celebrations in major world cities throughout the year; and IEEE Engineering the Future Day on 13 May 2009.
This is the web portal for the IEEE Cairo University Student Branch (CUSB), to communicate through it with our branch members, fellow students and anyone interested in technology and knowledge. The main purpose of the IEEE CUSB is the dissemination of the theory and practice of all aspects of electrical engineering, electronics, radio, allied branches of engineering or related arts and sciences, as well as the furtherance of the professional development of students. |
